Authentic Self-Leadership to Inspire Teams

Authentic Self-Leadership to Inspire Teams

What is Authentic Self-Leadership?
How Can We Perform at an Elevated Level and Inspire Our Teams?

The number one thing that stands in people’s way to grow, change and develop is their ability to change their habits. The will is there but we have been brainwashed into thinking that changing our habits is difficult. But what if we knew that change is easy if you have the right knowledge and the right tools? In Authentic Self-Leadership to Inspire Teams, Grant encourages you to understand behaviour from the ‘inside-out’ of neuroscience and how the brain works, while also keeping an eye on the ‘outside-in:’ how we understand others and how others see us. And he makes the process easy by providing a change assessment that shows you where you personally need to focus, and then with deliberate care, provides the bite-size knowledge and tools that will enable you to make a transformation in areas that are most important for YOU to lead yourself and others more authentically.

As a result of this talk, you will:

  • Understand the key drivers and triggers that derail us from authentic self-leadership

  • Develop practical strategies to overcome these derailments to apply immediately

  • Perform at an elevated level for higher productivity and to inspire your team

  • Walk away with a unique tailored approach to your own self-belief and self-leadership to lead yourself and others more effectively and more authentically

About the speaker

Business Leader Network Session!

Greetings from DABS, the Royal Danish Embassy and the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC)!

It is our pleasure to personally invite you for our upcoming Business Leader Network Session (Breakfast).

In this new century, businesses have come to understand the critical role they play in the communities in which they operate. The need to deliver profits must come together with the desire to be a force for good in the society that enables this success.  In that vein, NVPC has launched Corporate Purpose: A Framework and Blueprint for businesses in Singapore and announced our new Company of Good strategy, which will support companies with the adoption of Corporate Purpose and its application across 5 impact areas – People, Environment, Social, Governance and Economic.

At this session, we will share more about the new Company of Good strategy, why Corporate Purpose matters and how purpose can position your members’ organisation for growth, innovation, and transformation.

We look forward to welcoming you to a fruitful, engaging breakfast session.

Beyond the Breach: Managing Cyber Crises Effectively

Cybersecurity is about the stewardship of trust. In today's digital world, the threat of cyber attacks is a looming reality for all businesses. It has the potential to damage corporate reputation, limit a company's license to operate, and ultimately, destroy shareholder value. How companies prepare for, respond to and lead after an attack is often more important than the attack itself.

At this coffee meeting, Cecilie will discuss the complexities of cyber crises, the implications for businesses, and what best practice looks like when preparing for and navigating these crises, with insight from real-world examples and case studies.

About the speaker

Cecilie is a strategy consultant at Brunswick Group where she advises companies across Asia and globally on matters of corporate reputation and resilience. She specialises in crisis management and corporate positioning, with a focus on cybersecurity and data privacy. Her experience spans the financial, technology, healthcare, and consumer sectors, where she has developed crisis management plans, stakeholder engagement strategies, and profile-raising campaigns for start-ups and multinational companies. Prior to Brunswick, Cecilie worked on R&D projects for public safety and security at NEC Laboratories Singapore and on global public-private collaboration projects with law enforcement at INTERPOL.

Talent acquisition reinvented

Talent acquisition reinvented:
Change the focus from past experience to relevant competences

At this Coffee Meeting, we are looking forward to greeting an old DABS acquaintance. Asger Daugbjerg who was a member of the DABS board from 2017-2020, is now back introducing a new, interesting approach.

This presentation is about a different approach to talent acquisition. An approach which is being used by both SMEs and some of the biggest Danish multinationals. Could Singapore be next?

Actually, there is not much magic about it – mostly innovation and technology linked to a deep understanding of the questions HR and recruiters should really ask. The key is asking candidates about how they will act in situations they will face in the position a company is trying to fill.

Present candidates with a number of scenarios which reflect real job challenges as experienced by staff already working in a similar position in the company. Relevant scenarios uncover a candidate’s competencies vis-à-vis the actual job she will be doing should she be hired.

Now this disruptive approach does not replace an interview or degrade the importance of excellent school grades. But it does ensure a solid pre-selection of strong candidates; candidates who have demonstrated the ability to excel in the concrete job – without ever having worked in the company.

About the speaker

Asger Daugbjerg is a business man, having run his own business consultancy in Singapore since 2016 – and with more than 30 years of work experience in Europe and Asia.
Asger is not a recruiter, but he is writing job position scenarios for i.e. Danske Bank, Danish Crown, Copenhagen Capacity, COOP, Grundfos and more.

A Collaborative Effort for Worker Welfare in Singapore

Join our next relevant Coffee Table Meeting:
A Collaborative Effort for Worker Welfare in Singapore

Economic globalization has meant the movement of worker away from their home countries to seek employment in other countries. These workers are called migrant workers and, according to the United Nations, 1 in 20 workers worldwide is a migrant worker. Singapore is home to over 900.000 migrant workers which play an important role in the Singaporean economy and in the development of low- and middle-income of the home countries of these migrant workers. However, at a global level, migrant workers face higher risks of adverse impacts on labour rights such as wage security, safe working environment, working hours and poor housing facilities. A fact that was brought to the forefront of the global discussion due to the World Cup in Qatar.

Ørsted is a client of the Singaporean marine sector and through supply chain due diligence efforts, Ørsted has identified risk areas related to migrant workers and their labour rights and working conditions. Some of these risk areas can be effectively addressed by individual companies, but others are the result of systemic issues and complex situations in Singapore. Addressing these risks require a broader collaboration in the Singaporean context. To shape that collaboration, Ørsted is working together with other European clients of the Singaporean shipyards to address these risks in a collaborative effort. In this session, Joel will provide more background on the collaboration, the participants, and the goals going forward.

About the speaker

Joel Frijhoff is Lead Sustainability Advisor and Programme Lead in the Global Sustainability Department at Ørsted. In this role he is responsible for developing and executing supply chain due diligence efforts with the aim to collaborate with suppliers to improve the social, environmental and ethical performance of Ørsted’s supply chain. His efforts focus on direct suppliers as well as establishing more responsible supply chains of key metals that fuel the renewable energy transition.

Joel has 10+ years of experience working on supply chain responsibility in multi-stakeholder settings with civil society and governments. He joined Ørsted in January 2020 and is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Prior to joining Ørsted, Joel worked for the trading department of Vattenfall where he was responsible for the responsible procurement of fuels for energy production. Joel holds an MA in Organisational Anthropology and a Ba in Organic Chemistry from the Netherlands.

Cyber-Wellness at Work: What is it and why is it so important?

Cyber-Wellness at Work: What is it and why is it so important?

In an age of remote or hybrid working, do you and your colleagues feel safe and happy at work?

A lot of time is typically spent online for work, learning, and leisure, which also increases the exposure to a wide range of cyber threats. This includes scams and fraud, cyber bullying and other types of online harassment, disinformation (aka fake news), addiction, fatigue and burnout.

This is why cyber wellbeing – ensuring that we are safe, happy and healthy as we use the internet – emerges as a crucial factor for a healthy digital experience.

However, most cyber wellness and cyber safety interventions by organisations are inadequate. In general, cybersecurity threats, such as phishing and malware, which focus on protecting data and systems, receive much attention. On the other hand, training and solutions for the ‘softer’ aspects of cyber safety – which focus on protecting people - are often ignored or under-developed.

In this talk for DABS, Dr. Rao will highlight:

·       The dangers that digital devices, social media, and tech-based work processes pose to employee safety and wellbeing

·       Risks that organisations face from these dangers, including reputational and financial harms

·       How organisations can benefit from a focus on employee cyber wellbeing

About the speaker

Dr. Anuradha (Anu) Rao is a Singapore-based trainer, speaker and consultant who is passionate about helping organisations and families stay safer and happier online.

She works with corporates, non-profits, inter-governmental organisations, think-tanks, and higher education institutes (HEI) to identify and manage cyber-threats to employee or end-users' financial, physical, emotional, and mental safety and wellbeing.

Dr. Rao has a PhD in Communications and New Media from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and an MA in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. She is currently an Associate Faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), where she teaches cybercrime, and cybersecurity and digital transformation.
Originally from India, she has lived in 10 cities in 6 countries and grew up travelling the world with her parents and sister. She has been based in Singapore since 2008, where she raises her family and serves the community. She is passionate about women and child online safety, animal welfare, and loves Bollywood dancing and geopolitical discussions.

The ability to make wise and rapid decision in fast changing environments and create innovative solutions are our biggest challenges to thrive and create a prosperous future for all.
To do so, we need to understand the new rules of the game of life on Earth. Heart over head. The power of heartful and wise decisions.
As we become aware and develop our full human potential, a balance of rational thinking and intuitive feeling, and embrace our multidimensionality (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies) we are able to tap into an unlimited field of inspiration, find hidden solutions that are creative and impactful. We see reality with new eyes that focus on wonder, serendipity, synchronicities and new possibilities.

This new form of leadership honours life in all its form, is regenerative in its essence, magnetizes a sense of flow with teams and partners, recalls the power of tribes and co-creativity and inspires to commit and act with purpose and authenticity.

About the speaker

Nathalie Coral Lepeltier is a future creative, an intuitive visionary and a modern oracle.
She is a nature and animal lover, as well as a piano player. Her real passion is to connect people, events, places, information. She sees life and humanity as a whole. Nathalie began her professional life as an executive in global corporations. After a near-fatal liver disease, she experienced a wake-up call and put aside her business career to travel the world and live with her family, husband and three children who are now grown ups, in countries such as England, Sweden, US, India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain and Singapore.

She is the founder of Conscious Future Institute and Conscious Future Consulting. For the past twenty years she has been increasing her learnings while working with scientists from around the world, and training/mentoring people to access the inner wisdom to be successful, as well as sharing disruptive tools in environments such as corporations and NGOs. She has been building a tribe of leaders of change. She is an expert at APM (Association Progres du Management). Her last talks at the expo2020 Dubai and UN Geneva were focused on her new trendsetting leadership model, developed in her soon to be published book "Quantum Heart, a guide to lead from the Future".

About the speaker

Mr Shawn Low, Vice President (Singapore Business, Human Capital)
Singapore Economic Development Board.
Shawn is currently the Vice President of Singapore Businesses and Vice President of Human Capital at the Singapore Economic Development Board, where his teams accelerate the growth of large Singaporean enterprises and develop national manpower policies for Singapore’s next bound of economic development.

During the first two years of Covid-19, Shawn drove business expansion at a Singapore-based conglomerate, finding opportunities in crisis. Prior to that, he spent the last decade leading teams in strategy and policy functions within the Singapore Government – at the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Manpower, and the Strategy Group of the Prime Minister’s Office.

When Shawn is not spending time with his family – raising four young and highly independent-minded kids – he tries to do other things that he loves: working with people and leading teams to tackle complex issues and make a large positive impact in Singaporeans’ lives.
