Moving to a new country is an exciting experience, but it comes with its share of challenges and success is never guaranteed.
With over 20 years of experience working across cultures, Tania Léger will be sharing with you some of the key factors that made a difference for expatriates relocating from Denmark to Singapore.
You will learn more about the foundation of Singapore culture: why Singaporeans think and act the way they do today.
We will talk about a few dimensions of culture that are fundamentally different between Denmark and Singapore, and are responsible for the majority of cultural misunderstandings.
And last but not least, Tania will give you some tips about how to approach work and life in Singapore with a mindset that will give you a greater chance of success.
More practically, we will discuss key topics that are relevant to the way of doing business in the region:
- What are the expectations from a Western manager?
- How to create trust in an Asian environment?
- How to drive initiative and innovation in a culture dominated by face?
- Differences in meetings between Europe and Asia.
- Does and don't in daily conversations.

About the speaker
Tania Léger
Tania Léger is an Executive Coach and Intercultural Trainer. She has delivered intercultural management training programs and executive coaching to senior level executives for the past 19 years. Tania has worked with individuals from over 120 global companies in Singapore, China and the Philippines. In Singapore, she has worked with Danish companies such as LEGO, Ørsted, ISS, Grundfos, Danfoss and Vestas.
Prior to becoming a Coach, Mrs. Léger was an Area Manager for LVMH Watches & Jewellery in Switzerland and Singapore. In Singapore, she oversaw Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines and travelled to visit the markets regularly. Tania gained extensive cross-cultural experience as an expatriate living and working in Singapore; Beijing, China; and Manila, Philippines, until permanently relocating back to Singapore in 2008.
Tania is a permanent resident of Singapore where she lives with her husband and their three daughters, who were born in Beijing, Manila and Singapore.
