The Bek-Nielsen brothers Carl and Martin, who owns United Plantations in Malaysia, warmly extend their invitation
to DABS members to visit their plantation on 9 November, Saturday.
Tour this uniquely Danish business entity, which tracks its’ history in this part of the world back to the beginning of the 20th century. Today, this huge plantation is a role model for oil palm production in Malaysia and has won several awards bestowed by the government. The uniqueness of United Plantations is well contained its entire value-chain, from the fruits used in various processes until the final pulp, which ends up as gas to generate electricity. There are schools, health care facilities, homes for the elderly and even a Danish bakery on the plantation’s premises.
The program as follows:
8 November, Friday.
Your time - arrive in Kuala Lumpur, KL, Malaysia, on 8 November, Friday. Check-in to recommended accommodation, Park Royal Hotel, KL, Malaysia. (http://www.parkroyalhotels.com/en/hotels/malaysia/kuala_lumpur/parkroyal/index.html).
7.30pm – gather at lobby of Park Royal Hotel, KL.
8.00pm – networking event with the Malaysian Danish Business Council.
9 November, Saturday
7.30am – depart Park Royal Hotel, KL in chartered bus/ coach to United Plantations. Estimated ride is 2.5 hours, up the countryside to the Northeast, Perak.
10.30am - guided tour by Carl and Martin Bek –Nielsen, followed by lunch.
3.00pm – head back to hotel in KL city. From here, you can make your own plans to head back to Singapore.

We are making arrangements with hotel to offer participants competitive rates. Once you have signed up we will book your hotel room from the 8th of November till 9th of November. You will pay for the room directly to us together with the price for the bus and networking event.
On flight booking:
There is a Firefly flight from Singapore Terminal 2 to Subang Airport, Malaysia, which is close to downtown KL and therefore easier to reach on a Friday evening. Suggested departure from Singapore 5.00 pm flight.
Otherwise there are flights almost every half an hour to KLIA with Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines running a common service between Singapore and KL.
