In
December last year it was
decided to expand the European
Union with 10 new countries.
The significantly larger EU
will be borne in May 2004.
The outlined development will
dramatically change the Union
affecting both relations between
Europe and East Asia but significantly
also the role of the new EU
on the world's political scene.
Major
changes must be expected.
These will however all happen
at a time where the world
already faces significant
challenges both politically
and economically.
