Release of "Can East
Asia Compete?"
By
Dr
Shahid Yusuf

| |
| The
Singapore International Chamber
of Commerce and the World Bank
takes great pleasure in inviting
you to the launch of a major
publication and study, focusing
on East Asia's future competitiveness.
The author of the report, Dr.
Shahid Yusuf, and the World
Bank Regional Vice President
for East Asia and the Pacific,
Mr. Jemal-ud-din Kassum, will
speak at the luncheon. |
|
|
|
The report concludes that East
Asia can emerge from the shadows
of the 1997 economic crisis,
and return to a position of
global competitiveness, but
only if it adopts a new approach
in four key areas. The report,
"Can East Asia Compete?",
argues that continued economic
recovery and sustained rapid
growth of the middle and high
income countries of East Asia
will depend on : |
| |
building innovation capability
strengthening market
institutions and business services
harnessing information
and communications technologies
to the fullest
promoting openness |
