Welcome by the President
I’m Henrik Ziegler. For those of you who don’t know me, I have been around in Singapore for more than 20 years by now. The City State has undergone many changes during my tenure here. And it still surprises me each and every day, how much we are in change all the time. Just take as an example the whole new area around the Marina Bay. It’s amazing. Also the facts that we are in a growing economy and a very vibrant international environment are reasons why I have decided to call Singapore home.
Being elected as DABS President is not new to me. I have had a period of 3 years earlier and I have been on the DABS board for more than 10 years. I have accepted the presidency because we in the DABS committee have decided that we want to put DABS on a more modern and a more business related platform. Sitting back with one of the longest experiences in Singapore with regards to DABS, Danish Seaman’s Church and other related community work, the ommittee felt I was the right person to implement a new strategy for DABS.
A new way forward
One of the things we have decided to do is to become more involved with business related issues as we are a Business Association. We will conduct more business to business related events, more company presentations and more actively take a role in bringing in top speakers, just to mention a few. We have also decided to operate a more efficient back office, for which we have contracted the services of the Danish Embassy. DABS will be open for business every day during the opening hours of the Danish Embassy.
The year ahead
Being your new President I can assure you that I will do whatever it takes to bring DABS to a higher level, and all in the committee will strive hard to reach our pre-set goals. I will steer the ship with a steady hand and make sure we reach our targets. However being in charge of a non-profit organization can at times be a trying task for both the members and the committee. But in all essence, the outcome of the events can only depend on your participation and patronage. We are 100% there for you, and should you have any wishes or suggestions for events or in general, feel free to contact us!
Membership
Membership of DABS is open to all Danes living and working in Singapore, to Danish companies/branches/representative offices in Singapore, and in some cases to other nationals being associated Danish companies or Danish interests in Singapore. More members means a stronger association and better events, so if you are not a member do consider to enroll, and if you are a member please look for candidates and suggest them to enrol.
