Established
in 1991, EuroCham has
since evolved with the
political environment
and aligned itself with
the business needs of
its members. As a consortium
of the National Business
Groups of the European
Union (EU), EuroCham is
the only organisation
that has the structure
and charter to promote
trade between Singapore
and the EU. The recent
signing of the Free Trade
Agreement between Singapore
and the United States,
and the increasing presence
of EU companies, many
of which are using the
country as regional headquarters,
have catapult the importance
of EuroCham to a higher
level.
Since 26 June 2003 EuroCham
is open for direct membership.
This way we believe the
European business community
gets a strong representative
in Singapore. |

Organising

and network events.
Providing a forum for
discussion and exchange
of ideas on trade and
investments between
the EU and Singapore.
Establishing Industry
Groups to gain an enhancement
of influence.
Lobbying the Singapore
and EU authorities to
improve trade and investments
for our members.
Offering an exponential
increase in network
and sales contacts.
Providing regular information
updates on Singapore,
EU and EuroCham matters.
Publishing a European
directory. |

are experiencing obstacles
in doing business in Singapore
or need assistance to lobby
the Singapore government to
improve the business environment
for EU trade and investment."
| As
the EU continues to
expand, the importance
of that region as a
business center for
Singapore corporations
will also become more
vital. On the other
side Southeast Asia
presents Europe with
a series of different
and significant challenges.
EuroCham will play a
significant role in
drawing up more substantial
commitments between
the EU, |

is EU's largest trading

Vassilis
Bontosoglou, Ambassador,
Head of Delegation of
the European Commission
to Singapore said, "The
European Commission
is here not only to
serve the interests
of Europeans but also
to promote closer ties
between the EU and Singapore.
As part of this mandate,
we look forward to establishing
a close relationship
with EuroCham. As the

with the structure to
promote trade and investments
between Singapore and
EU, EuroCham has plenty
of services that I encourage
all corporations, both
European and non-European,
to take advantage of."
